Our study aims to uncover new molecules and mechanisms responsible for parasite proliferation. We used a functional genomics approach, which allows a high throughput, comprehensive and quantitative identification of the periodically expressed genes. Specifically, we obtained parasites synchronized in three stages of the cell cycle (G1, S and G2/M), and then sequenced the total mRNAs of each stage.
