Several Trichoderma species (Ascomycota; Hypocreaceae) are associated with the ability to produce potent degradative enzymes with potential role for cleanup of the polluted sites (mycoremediation). Trichoderma harzianum MUT 5453, deposited at the Mycotheca Universitatis Taurinensis (MUT, www.mut.unito.it) of the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin (Italy), was isolated from industrial wastewater. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of T. harzianum MUT 5453 obtained with Next Generation Sequencing methods. The genome of T. harzianum MUT 5453 can shed light on biotransformation of recalcitrant pollutants in industrial wastewater. Moreover, the genes potentially involved in the production of important secondary metabolites with potential applications of T. harzianum MUT 5453 have been investigated. Overall, the genome sequence of T. harzianum MUT 5453 can give insights into its safe biotechnological applications.The costs for the Next Generation Sequencing were supported by INAIL-DIT (PAR 2016-2018).
