Bacterial double-coating with IgG and IgM partly compensates for the lack of IgA in IgA-deficient subjects. IgG1 and IgG4 coat gut bacteria to nearly the same extent as IgA, and is present during homeostasis, while bacterial IgG2-coating defines an enhanced gut inflammatory state.
