GVFC (Gun Violence Frame Corpus)

This is a novel dataset of news headlines and their framing related to gun violence in the United States. Named the Gun Violence Framing Corpus (GVFC), it is curated and annotated by journalism and communication experts. The articles in this dataset are sampled from a list of 30 top-tier U.S. news sites defined by website traffic, and were collected across four time periods in 2018 to capture a diverse range of articles. We include the news article titles, their annotations, accompanying images, as well as text- and image-derived features in this dataset. We also include the codebook protocol, which covers all variables used in the annotation and their definitions as applied by annotators.
