The three Microcystis aeruginosa strains (M10, M11, M12) used in this study were isolated from Lake Ta?aul, Romania (44.35°N 28.61°E) in June 2018. Each strain was adapted to two different temperature conditions, ambient (22°C) and heat-adapted (26°C) for two years. These six M. aeruginosa genomes were then sequenced to determine if adaptation to increased temperature resulted in genetic changes or 'reversible' increased plasticity.
