ecoPCR results

This dataset contains the processed output generated by the program ecoPCR (Ficetola et al., 2010) as fasta files. ecoPCR performs in silico PCRs of given primer pairs based on on a database (here the EMBL release 143, downloaded March 2021) without the standard releases of human, mouse or environmental sequences. Our simulated PCRs allowed for 3 mismatches in the primer binding sites, yet the last 2 nucleotide positions at the 3’end of each primer required a perfect match. The amplicon size range was determined from 50 to 500 nucleotides in the V3, V7 and V9 markers and to a maximum of 800 nucleotides for the V4 marker to account for its larger size.
