In law, men don't have precedence over women in the custody of children.
A YES score is earned where in law men don't have precedence over women in the custody of children. A general constitutional principle against discrimination based on gender is NOT enough to score YES.
A mixed score is earned when in law, within the same country, some men have precedence over women in the custody of children and some don't, when different legal frameworks coexist (civil, customary, sharia, etc.).
A NO score is earned where men have precedence over women in the custody of children.
