The wind maps were calculated as part of the potential study Wind Energy North Rhine-Westphalia.
Maps are available for the average wind speed (m/s) and the specific energy power density (W/m^2) for the heights of 100 m, 125 m, 135 m, 150 m, 175 m, 200 m and 225 m in a 100 m grid.
The calculation method is the LANUV expert report 40 "Potential Study Renewable Energies NRW — Part 1:
Wind energy" from the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection.
The study can be found in the energy atlas at www.energieatlas.nrw.de.
