Description of the data: Prokaryotic and viral genomes analyzed in the manuscript "Ecosystem Health Shapes Viral Ecology in Peatland Soils" by Kosmopoulos et al. (2025). The file genomes.tar.gz is an archive containing two sub-folders. All viral metagenome-assembled genomes are in fasta format within the folder vMAGs, and prokaryotic metagenome-assembled genomes (medium- and high-quality) are are in fasta format within the MAGs folder. File: genomes.tar.gz Description: Archive of two folders, MAGs and vMAGs. (1) MAGs: All medium- and high-quality prokaryotic metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs). Each fasta file represents one genome, whereby multiple contigs were binned into the same genome. Total: 935 MAGs. (2) vMAGs: All viral metagenome-assembled genomes (vMAGs). Each fasta file represents one viral genome, which may include multiple contigs binned into the same genome or may be only a single-contig viral genome. Total: 2,281 vMAGs. Access information: All raw sequencing data are publicly available in the NCBI Short Read Archive under BioProject accession PRJNA1203648. Whole assembled metagenomic contigs as well as high-quality prokaryotic metagenome-assembled genomes are available at the NCBI WGS using the same BioProject accession. All scripts for data processing and visualization are available via GitHub at https://github.com/AnantharamanLab/UKPeatlandViruses.
