Bark beetles (Ips typographus) can trigger outbreaks that result in significant losses in the forest industry. The infected trees have evolved resistance mechanisms that can be toxic to insects; however, bark beetles are able to overcome this and colonize these habitats. It has been suggested that symbiotic microorganisms, especially yeasts in the gut of bark beetles, play a role in the detoxification process. In this study, the genomes of five yeasts (Kuraishia molischiana, Cryptococcus sp., Nakazawaea ambrosiae, Ogataea ramenticola, and Wickerhamomyces bisporus) isolated from the gut of Ips typographus were generated and disclosed.
