The present study aimed to extract genetic material from different fungi and bacteria and molecularly characterize them through various molecular markers. Also, a molecular phylogenetic analysis based on at least three different genes will be performed in order to reveal their taxonomic relationships. Furthermore, from the most interesting fungi and bacteria bioactive substances will be extracted and further characterized. Research will focus mainly on two species, Beauveria bassiana and Bacillus amyloliquefacienes already isolated in our laboratory. Their molecular characterization, phylogenetic analyses and biochemical investigation will furnish useful data, so they can potentially be used in future in the biocontrol strategies of various fungal or bacterial phytopathogens agriculturally relevant.
