NRS-15300 | Minutes of the meetings of the Public Transport Commission of New South Wales

These minutes record the proceedings of meetings of the Public Transport Commission of New South Wales. They give the time, date and location of the meeting, the names of those present, and confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting. Items are assigned a number and arranged chronologically. Commission meetings dealt with many issues relating to the running of public transport including departmental administration, personnel and industrial matters, provision of railway facilities and services, and the purchase of rolling stock and other equipment. Special meetings of the Commission were held when the need arose to discuss a particular item.The first file in the series contains a list of matters not finalised by the Commission between the inaugural meeting on 20 October 1972 and 14 September 1973. There is a separate index of items dealt with at meetings of the Public Transport Commission of New South Wales.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R75. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R75and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.
