Transcriptome analysis in grapevine

Plasmopara viticola is a plant pathogenic oomycete that causes downy mildew in grapevines. Shine Muscat is a hybrid grapevine cultivar of Vitis vinifera and V. labrascana produced in Japan that exhibits resistance to P. viticola. Our goal is to elucidate the mechanisms of defense against P. viticola infection in Shine Muscat. In this study, RNA samples were prepared from the leaves of Shine Muscat with the treatment of 1 day post inoculation of P. viticola spores and water (mock). After transcriptome analyses were performed twice using two sets of biologically independent RNA samples, two sets of RNA seq data were used for selection of reproducible differentially expressed genes in response to P. viticola infection.
