Templates for Releasing and Archiving Individual-based Genotype Data

This data release contains standardized templates for individual-based genotype data. We provide two template packages: one for Short Tandem Repeat or Microsatellite (STR) genotype datasets [str_release.zip] and another for Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)/variant call genotype datasets [snp_release.zip]. The templates were developed to comply with standards for scientific data publication at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and used for USGS trusted digital repositories, such as ScienceBase, Forest Service Science Data Archive, and other publicly accessible general data repositories such as Dryad, FigShare, and Zenodo. The xml metadata templates [str_metadata_template.xml; snp_metadata_template.xml] can be filled out and edited in the USGS Metadata Wizard.
