Garden cities in Poland. Research data

The dataset consists data on garden cities in Poland. The research focuses on:
(1) Identification of settlements referring to the Garden City concept in present-day Poland,
(2) Identification of specific features of garden cities located within the contemporary Polish borders concerning Howard’s original concept,
(3) Proposal of the typology of settlements referring to Howard’s idea, considering the following criteria: morphogenetic-functional, morphological, historical metrics, toponymy (naming), degree of realisation in Poland displaying the characteristics of garden cities.
The time frame of the research covers the period from the end of the 19th century to 1989.
The methodology used in this study is based on a geographical-historical approach, settlement geography, urban morphology, and cartographic analysis of historical and contemporary data. The study employed quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate source materials and typology related to Polish garden cities.
