aBui et al. [16] reported that in Chlamydomonas IAX (dynein b/g) is clearly missing from DMT9, and maybe missing from DMT1– consistent with the data presented here; however, the authors did not report that IAX is greatly reduced at DMT5, as shown here.
bHeuser et al. [34]: in Chlamydomonas axonemes the intermediate chain and light chain complex (ICLC) of the I1 dynein contains a doublet-specific protrusion only found on DMTs 3 and 4, but not on the other seven DMT.
