<i>Hymenochaete liyiriana</i> sp. nov. (Hymenochaetaceae, Basidiomycota) from Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India

A new polypore, <i>Hymenochaete liyiriana</i> T. Rakhe &amp; R. K. Singh, is described based on its morphological and molecular characterisation. It was collected from the sub-tropical forest of Arunachal Pradesh (India) that lies within the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot. <i>H. liyiriana</i> is characterised by a concentrically lamellate hymenophore, tramal hyphae with hooked tip, and cyanophilous basidiospores. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and partial nc 28S rDNA (nLSU) region-based phylogenetic analysis also differentiated <i>H. liyiriana</i> from the closely related species, <i>H. campylopora</i> and <i>H. setipora</i>.
