Since the 11 May 2019 a severe weather event, including heavy rainfall, strong winds and hailstorms have affected central and north-eastern regions of Italy, leading to river bank overflows that have resulted in much damage. The most affected area is the Emilia-Romagna Region. Heavy rainfall caused rapidly increasing levels of the Savio, Montone, Ronco, Panaro, Secchia, Sillaro and Foglia rivers, exceeding the highest alert level. In particular, the Secchia (Modena), Savio (Cesena), Sillaro (Imola) and Montone (Forlì) rivers have burst their banks.<br>
