资源简介:
The ice monitoring project aims to improve understanding of the interactions between the landfast sea ice cover, climate change, winter navigation, safe access to the territory for Inuit communities and protection of the bays ecosystems along the Hudson Strait. It is part of the Safe Passage project, funded by Polar Knowledge Canada. The first phase of the project spans three winters (2015-2018), with Deception Bay (Baie Dception) as the main study site. Two additional sites, Kangiqsujuaq (Baie Wakeham) and Salluit (Fjord de Salluit), are also monitored for comparison and community involvement for some of the data collected. The initial work was funded by Raglan Mine, a Glencore Company, with Polar Knowledge Canada now contributing to continue the work and integrate the study within a pan-arctic effort. The project is a collaboration with Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and Ministre des transports, de la mobilit durable et de llectrification des transports du Qubec (MTMDET). A second phase (2018-2020) has been approved by Raglan Mine, a Glencore Company, and Kativik Regional Government for two additional winter seasons. (Please see the metadata related to this project for information about the other data collected.)
