We applied metagenomics and metatranscriptomics to different cultures to investigate As-related and sulfate reducing genes including arsR, acr3, arsB, arsC, arsM, gst, arsH, aioA, aprA and dsrA, as well as their contributors. Those arsM-harboring heterotrophic SRBs, like Desulfosporosinus, Desulfocurvibacter and Desulfotomaculum, expressed As-related genes and might resist As, and would be the key genera for As methylation in landfills.
