Scrips Coastal Reserve Annual Report

Professor. Douglas Inman has four full-time and two half-time graduate students doing research projects financed by several grants on physical processes of the surf zone and adjacent continental shelf. These include projects investigating sand transport, ripple marks, particle suspension in the surf zone, orbital velocity of water in the surf zone, wave climate of the beach and long-wave and run-offs. Professor J. Enright is studying circadian rhythms and orientations in three species of crustacea. A graduate student, Bob Hartwick, is studying orientation of a beach isopod. The course work includes 11 students in an animal behavior course taught by Dr. Enright--60 man-hours.
