This series comprising cards in a folder was created to provide access to files relating to the MURL construction project (located in VPRS 425, Inward Registered Correspondence, Annual Single Number System) by name of correspondent/ or by subject/ or by location.The Railway Construction Branch of the Board of Land and Works (VA 690) was named as the Constructing Authority in the City of Melbourne Underground Railway Construction Act 1960, (No 6652) and proceeded with investigation and planning of the loop.Prior to the establishment of the Melbourne Underground Loop Authority (VA 2987) in 1971, considerable planning for the loop was carried out by the Railway Construction Branch, Board of Land and Works VA 690 and the Railway Construction Board, (R.C.B.) VA 691.
