Dataset for 'The Evidence for Chinese *-r' (Hill 2016)

This dataset contains tabular data derived from Nathan W. Hill’s article “The Evidence for Chinese *-r” (Bulletin of Chinese Linguistics 9.2, 2016, 190–204). The files encode the paper’s evidence categories for Old Chinese *-r as presented in the character-level conclusions list and in the additional xiéshēng 諧聲 series evidence. The deposit includes two UTF-8 tab-separated data files: specific_chars.tsv, a character-level table with one row per pronunciation/reconstruction pair, and xiesheng_series.tsv, a series-level table for xiéshēng evidence. The README gives the column definitions and explains the evidence codes a, b, c, c², A, B, C, A², B², and C².
