资源简介:
These are the supplementary materials for "The Early Learning of Interlingual Correspondence Rules in Receptive Multilingualism" (forthcoming): the data and R code used for the analyses, the scoring protocol, and the list of stimuli used in the training and test blocks. Feel free to your own analyses on these data, and please let me know if you spot an error or if you find something interesting. <strong>Description of variables</strong> Subject: the participant's ID LearningCondition: Was the participant in the oe-u or in the ij-ei learning condition? Order: Were the stimuli presented in the same order as in the stimulus list (TestOrderA) or in the reverse order (TestOrderB)? Block: Was the stimuli presented during the Training block or during the 1st/2nd/3rd Test block? Trial: Position in which the stimuli appeared during training or testing Item: The stimulus Translation: The participant's translation of the stimulus (verbatim) Correct: Was the translation scored as correct or not (see scoring protocol)? CorrectVowel: Did the stimulus contain the correct vowel (NA if the stimulus didn't feature or )? CorrectLiberal: Would the translation have been scored as correct using somewhat less stringent criteria? Note: Author's comment on the previous three variables WSTRight: Number of correct answers on the German Wortschatztest WSTWrong: Number of incorrrect answers on the German Wortschatztest (blank answers don't count towards this tally) EnglishHits: Number of correctly ticked words, i.e. "hits" (English LexTALE) EnglishCR: Number of correctly unticked nonwords, i.e. "correct rejections" (English LexTALE) EnglishScore: Score calculated from previous two columns (English LexTALE) FrenchHits: Number of correctly ticked words, i.e. "hits" (French LexTALE) FrenchCR: Number of correctly unticked nonwords, i.e. "correct rejections" (French LexTALE) FrenchScore: Score calculated from previous two columns (French LexTALE) NrLangs: Number of living languages (i.e. not counting Latin etc.) which the participant claims to know (questionnaire) Sex: The participant's sex Age: The participant's age StudyProgramme: The participant's study programme (verbatim). If two are named, the first is the major and the second (and sometimes third) the minor. LanguageExpert: Does the participant study something language-related (e.g. Spanish literature, minor in linguistics)? [Discarding these participants from the analysis doesn't affect the results.] NativeLanguage: The participant's native language(s) OtherLanguages: Other languages listed SwissGerman: Did the participant list Swiss German among their languages? ModelTranslation: The model translation of the stimulus SUBTLEX: The stimulus' model translation's SUBTLEX-DE corpus frequency (pm) Zipf: The translation's corpus frequency expressed in Zipf units Category: The type of stimulus (oe cognate, ij cognate, non-cognate, other cognate) LevStringGer: The German string used for the Levenshtein computations POS: The stimulus' part of speech (N = noun, V = verb, A = adjective/adverb) LevDist: The Levenshtein distance between the stimulus and its model translation
