Ochetobius elongatus Genome sequencing. Ochetobius elongatus

The goal of this study was to sequence and assemble the genome of Ochetobius elongatus, a fish species primarily distributed along the Yangtze River in China. Classified as Critically Endangered (CR) in the 2020 Chinese Red List of Vertebrates, O. elongatus has been rarely observed in recent fisheries surveys, indicating a severe decline in its population. The genomic data generated through this project will contribute significantly to conservation efforts by providing insights into the genetic basis of its adaptation and survival strategies, which can inform targeted conservation actions aimed at preserving this endangered species and its ecosystem.
