The physiology of Australian skinks: A literature synthesis and ecogeographic analysis

We compiled the first comprehensive synthesis of ecophysiological data for Australian skinks (Scincidae) to assess how physiological traits have been studied across taxa, geography, and time, and to test for broad spatial patterns in thermal physiology. Using a systematic search of the literature, we assembled data from 105 publications published between 1961 and 2024, covering 106 of Australia’s approximately 470 skink species.
