Comprehensive Dataset on Health Conditions Among Tribal Children in Central India

This dataset presents comprehensive health information from a cross-sectional prevalence study conducted among 2,500 tribal children aged 5–18 years in Central India. Data were collected directly from tribal households to assess the burden of nutritional, oral, hematological, and chronic health conditions in this underserved population. The dataset includes detailed demographic distributions; 1,457 females and 1,043 males, and two age groups: 5–12 years (n = 923) and 12–18 years (n = 1,577). Health indicators captured in the dataset include malnutrition (31.26%), oral submucous fibrosis (1.8%), oral premalignant lesions (20.5%), thalassemia (0.9%), sickle cell disease (12.3%), osteoporosis (0.4%), hypertension (5.9%), and raised serum bilirubin (0.6%). The dataset is fully anonymized and suitable for epidemiological analysis, public health planning, oral cancer risk assessment, and studies involving hemoglobinopathies and non-communicable diseases in tribal communities. It provides a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and public health stakeholders working to understand and address health disparities in indigenous populations.
