Time Series Open Positions in Germany at the regional level – Delisted Positions

This dataset is a time series of data related to open positions across Germany and represents information about delisted/filled positions in a monthly interval. The data was scraped as individual files from the Federal Employment Agency Germany (https://statistik.arbeitsagentur.de/SiteGlobals/Forms/Suche/Einzelheftsuche_Formular.html?topic_f=gemeldete-arbeitsstellen) and converted into a time series. Data at the county-level is available starting from December 2015 till (currently) January 2025. The geographical data was only available in text form. A county identifier as well as a selection of BBSR spatial typologies were appended based on name matching accounting for differences in naming across time - other geographies (labor market areas) are included but not supplied with spatial references. Changes in punctuation in the variables where accounted for affecting especially Sheets 2_x_x and 3_x_x. To create a unified time series in cases of varying punctuation additonal variables were created representing the industry code (ICode for 2_x_x) and an occupation group code (BCode for 3_x_x) based on the 3 first symbold of the industry or occupation code. It is recommended to use these codes for subsetting instead of the written out names.

The data represents the sheets 1_3, 2_1_3, 2_2_3, 3_1_3 and 3_2_3 of the original data from the Federal Employment Agency Germany and includes all variables included in the original data.

The webscraper and code to create the time series from the original files are available in supplemental publications.
