This dataset includes replication files for the associated research article, "The Effect of the Demand-Side Management Financial Incentive Program on Energy Savings: Evidence from Minnesota". The main dataset is related to the Shared Savings Demand-Side Management Financial Incentive Program in Minnesota. It forms an unbalanced panel of 4 electric and 5 gas utilities with 130 observations, covering 2006–2023. It contains annual data on energy efficiency programs administered by investor-owned electric and gas utilities in Minnesota from 2006 through 2023. Variables include first-year energy savings from utility programs, financial incentives awards, utility expenditures on energy efficiency programs, net benefits derived from these programs and related metrics. We also supplement this dataset with utility-year-specific average winter temperatures and demographic controls. Sources include the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission's eDockets website, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Minnesota State Demographic Center, the National Cancer Institute SEER datasets, and the U.S. Census Bureau. The author complied this dataset mainly during a research internship at the Minnesota Department of Commerce, with additions made as a PhD student at the University of Minnesota. We use this dataset in the associated article to examine the effects of the Demand-Side Management Financial Incentive Program on offsetting utilities' disincentive to engage in energy efficiency programs. This dataset also includes related scripts (R code) used to generate the tables, graphs, and analyses presented in the associated research article. A README file provides instructions for reproducing the results. Including these code files ensures full transparency and allows other researchers to replicate the analyses.
