This study employed a Stefan model to simulate the active layer thickness of permafrost in the McMurdo Dry Valleys region of Antarctica in 2020, utilizing MODIS land surface temperature, soil moisture, and thermal conductivity data at a spatial resolution of 1 km. The findings contribute to the comprehension of potential permafrost change patterns in the McMurdo Dry Valleys and establish a foundation for comparison with permafrost changes in other regions under the context of global climate warming.
