This project contains 16S rRNA gene sequencing data from nasopharyngeal samples of 634 individuals included in the paper: " Impact of COVID-19 lockdown on the nasopharyngeal microbiota of children and adults self-confined at home". This cross-sectional study included 173 primary adult cases with a previous confirmed COVID-19 episode and 470 exposed children contacts aged <15. Sequencing data for negative controls (extraction and PCR controls) is also included. DNA was extracted from nasopharyngeal swabs using the ZymoBIOMICS 96 MagBead NA Kit (Zymo Research, Freiburg, Germany) and following manufacturer's instructions. The 16S rRNA gene amplicons were produced using the V3-V4 region specific degenerate primers: Forward 5'- TCGTCGGCAGCGTCAGATGTGTATAAGAGACAGNCCTACGGGNGGCWGCAG -3' and Reverse 5'- GTCTCGTGGGCTCGGAGATGTGTATAAGAGACAGNGACTACHVGGGTATCTAATCC -3'. Next-generation sequencing library was built using Nextera XT v2 DNA Library Preparation kit (Illumina) according to the manufacturer's instructions and was further sequenced using Illumina MiSeq 2x300 bp reads.
