The goals of our study are to identify, culture sequence novel Spotted Fever Group Rickettsia species from ticks and clinical samples from dogs in the United States. Amblyomma americanum ticks collected from Oklahoma were used isolate and sequence the genome of a previously uncharacterized, novel Rickettsia species.
