Measuring and analyzing social efficiency in the production of maternal health in México, 2008-2015

Our study addressed a central issue in the efforts of middle- and low-income countries to achieve effective universal health care. We first proposes an original and innovative metric for assessing social efficiency (SE) in the production of maternal health public services among Mexican populations without social security coverage. Combining data envelopment (DEA) and spatial econometric analyses for longitudinal/panel data structures, our findings contribute original evidence on the state, evolution (from 2008 to 2015) and structural determinants of SE in the production of maternal health services in 232 health jurisdictions.
