The key masculinising crustacean hormone, insulin-like androgenic gland hormone (IAG) was silenced using targeted gene knock-down over 13 weeks. Animals in the experimental group (n=4) were injected with dsIAG weekly, while control animals (n=4) were injected with dsGFP weekly. Tissues were harvested from the eyestalk, androgenic gland (and associated sperm duct) and testis.
