资源简介:
Research Background A revisionist set of exhibitions researching the on going legacy of DADA such as the 2006 vast MOMA and Pompidou Centre, Paris retrospectives has led to renewed research among international artists. Subversive, inclusive, absurdist present-day art provocateurs such as Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Bruce Nauman, and Cindy Sherman, all contribute to a contemporary Dada spirit. This exhibition " BOOM, BOOM" featuring 17 Melbourne based artists furthers the Neo Dada imperative. Peter Ellis has been associated with Dada and Surrealism for 40 years, his work in this exhibition continues to research issues of absurdist and subversive methodology and concepts. Research Significance The exhibition venue " Artist Run Space, Upstairs at the Napier" is a non-profit artist run space that has a Board of Directors with 8 members who peer review all exhibitions and artists. The board of directors has been instrumental in implementing Artist Run Initiatives in Australia, ARI since 2004. The thematic exhibition 'BOOM BOOM" - Ideal, Ideal, Ideal, Knowledge, Knowledge, Knowledge, Boom, Boom, Boom. Celebrates Neo - Dada within a contemporary context. It's title referring to Dadaist credo and the innovative sound poems of Hugo Ball in 1916. Research Contribution The artist Peter Ellis has researched the extension of historic Dadaist concepts of black humour and provocation into a contemporary practice. Peter Ellis poses the possibility for an image to be telepathically transmitted from one "spiritual and dimensional existence" in this case a deceased dog once belonging to a deceased Dadaist artist (Francis Picabia) in 1942 to be "received and drawn" in 2011 by artist peter Ellis. The work is the research outcome of the potential for inter dimensional transporting of imagery from divergent realities.
