Whole Genome Sequencing of Neurotoxin-Producing Clostridium Species in New York State

The New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Biodefense Laboratory performed retrospective analysis of Clostridium spp. isolates collected over 40 years to supplement traditional botulism testing results. Sequence data was generated to complement epidemiological investigations and characterize botulinum neurotoxin-producing organisms throughout the state and surrounding areas. Isolates were obtained from clinical, clinical surveillance, animal, and environmental samples.
