Datasets for "Cross-Calibration of Energetic Electron Flux Measurements From the Cluster and THEMIS Missions"

This repository contains 1-minute averaged omnidirectional electron flux data from the Cluster/RAPID/IES and THEMIS/SST instruments for 2007–2018. A harmonized IES–SST dataset is obtained by combining data from IES Background Correction/ and either SST Global Calibration/ (for large-scale analyses) or SST Regional Calibrations/ (for studies focused on the inner or outer magnetosphere). The data are stored in HDF5 format. Contents IES/ — Electron fluxes from Cluster/RAPID/Imaging Electron Spectrometer (IES). SST/ — Electron fluxes from THEMIS/Solid State Telescope (SST). IES Background Correction/ — IES data corrected for penetrating particle contamination in the radiation belts, using correction factors from Kronberg et al. (2016). SST Channel Interpolation/ — SST fluxes interpolated to IES energy channels under the assumption of a local power-law energy spectrum. SST Global Calibration/ — SST data adjusted to match IES observations using globally optimized correction factors. SST Regional Calibrations/ — SST data adjusted to match IES observations using correction factors derived separately for regions inside and outside the geostationary orbit.
