Bavaria's dialects online

The rich dialect vocabulary of Bavaria is still under construction, but all previously written content is already freely available to interested parties with "Bayerns Dialekte Online" at https://bdo.badw.de. In this language information system, the three dialect dictionaries located at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities are also digitally united under one roof: The Bavarian Dictionary, the Dialectological Information System of Bavarian Swabia and the Franconian Dictionary continuously feed their newly developed material into BDO. With BDO, interested users have the opportunity to follow the work of the dictionary editors and to expand their knowledge of Bavarian, Franconian or (Bavarian) Swabian. All data from BDO can be searched via the user-friendly web interface, but are also available for download in XML format under a free license for reuse.
