Stable carbon and oxygen isotope ratios of foraminifera from North Atlantic sediments

Oxygen-18 records of benthic foraminifera from the Atlantic Ocean are significantly different from those of the Pacific and Indian Oceans indicating that the Glacial North Atlantic Deep Water was about 1.3°C cooler than today because different deep water sources appeared in the North Atlantic Ocean during glacial times.
