Identification of pathogenesis and survival strategies of Vibrio vulnificus

Vibrio vulnificus is the foodborne pathogen with the highest mortality rate. Despite its relevance to public health, it is not yet clear what the ecological drivers enable pathogenic strains to emerge and what the particular genetic characteristics allow these clones to colonize the human host. Here, we performed phenogenomic analysis by integrating whole genome sequencing (WGS), genome-wide association studies (GWAS), genome-wide epistasis studies (GWES) along with phenotype determination to investigate the pathogenesis of V. vulnificus.
