Association of altered gut mycobiome (fungome) and fungal metabolites with disease phenotype in patients with chronic pancreatitis.

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is marked by recurrent pain and pancreatic dysfunction. The gut bacteriome is linked to CP and Type 3c diabetes. However, the connection between the gut fungome and CP remains unexplored. This study aims to assess the gut fungome and its interactions with the bacteriome in CP patients, along with the associations of fungal components with the CP phenotype. This research is the first to investigate these aspects in the context of CP.
