Bright-field microscopy images of serial coronal brain sections showing anterogradely labeled axons in an adult male Wistar rat following injection of biotinylated dextran amine in the forelimb representation of the primary sensory / motor cortex. The labeling was visualized histologically. The presence of cytochrome oxidase positive barrels has been visualized in selected sections through the sensorimotor cortex.
