Metagenome sequencing of the rhizosphere microbiome of common beans tolerant to drought

This study investigates how the rhizosphere microbiome of common beans is influenced by drought tolerance. To do this, we assessed how different cultivars, with varying abilities to withstand dry conditions, interact with soil microbes. These interactions could reveal how beneficial microbes help plants survive drought by enhancing nutrient uptake, improving stress resilience, or outcompeting harmful microorganisms. Understanding these microbial communities could provide valuable insights into developing more drought-tolerant crops, which is crucial for ensuring food security in regions facing water scarcity.
