Establishment of Neocaridina denticulata as a novel model organism

A recent review has described Neocaridina denticulata as a potential model organism for decapods due to its ease of husbandry and reproduction (Mykles and Hui 2015). Recently, CRISPR/Cas9 knockout experiments have also been conducted with transcriptome data in the congeneric Neocaridina heteropoda (Liang et al. 2022). However, there are currently no publicly available genome assemblies for Neocaridina, which could be used to develop genetic tools in the future.This project aims to establish various experimental systems for Neocaridina denticulata.
