A Historical, GIS-Coded Dataset of United States Interstate Boundary Formation and Hydrographic Reliance

A reproducible Geographic Information System (GIS) dataset that divides the interstate boundaries of the 48 contiguous United States into 184 historically coherent observations. Each record links surviving geometry to the event and date that established the line, its intended boundary form, legal instrument, and path into the modern interstate system. The dataset also captures boundary-segment direct hydrographic proximity and nearby hydrographic opportunity.
