Tracer test dataset conducted on Dinaric karst island aquifer

This dataset consists of tracer test data that was conducted in 2012 on the island of Vis (Croatia). Vis is a small and remote island, with an autonomous water supply from its own karstic aquifer. In order to determine the hydraulic properties of the aquifer, and to determine the drinking water protection zones, tracer test was performed by using Na-fluorescein dye. The dataset includes recovered dye concentrations from two boreholes with a depth of approximately 150 meters. Their coordinates and map with all sampling locations are also provided. Tracer test also proved that two respective catchments exist on the island of Vis, i.e. catchments of Korita and Pizdica. Furthermore, tracer test data represents the most reliable method for determining groundwater flow direction and speed in karst aquifers. Provided data is valuable to hydrogeologists, especially ones dealing with karst. • Provided data gives insights into groundwater flow characteristics in an island karst aquifer. Since tracer test isn`t done in a channel with the privileged flow (like a sinking stream), results are representative of rock mass, situated at the water table level in the deep karst aquifer.
