This dataset contains raw surface roughness data for calcite and quartz samples polished with different grit sizes (30, 100, 400, and 1000). The data was acquired using confocal laser microscopy at 50x magnification with 10% overlap stitching and 5x5 tiling. The vertical resolution is 10 nanometers, and the lateral resolution is 20 nanometers. The Z-height data is reported in microns. The dataset consists of 8 files, each corresponding to a specific mineral and polishing grit size: Calcite: 30, 100, 400, 1000 grit Quartz: 30, 100, 400, 1000 grit Each file contains high-resolution surface topography data, providing detailed information on the surface roughness of the samples.
