VPRS 17674 Sale Regional Arts Centre Correspondence Files

This record series comprises correspondence of the Sale Regional Arts CentreIn 1964 Sale City Council made a building available for an art gallery and Victorian State Government aid was sought to implement the plan. The gallery opened in 1965 as the Sale Regional Arts Centre. The Centre was built within the Sale Civic Complex of buildings above the library. The Constitution of the Sale Regional Arts Centre stated that one of the objects of the Centre was to conduct itself as an organ of the Mayor Councillors and Citizens of the City of Sale in the furtherance of its other objects. In 1995 the Centre relocated into the Wellington Shire Offices and changed its name to the Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale.
