Australian Enterovirus-D68 Associated Acute Flaccid Myelitis. A Case of Enterovirus-D68 Associated Acute Flaccid Myelitis in an Immunocompromised Adult and Review of Current Therapeutics for Neuroinvasive Enterovirus Infections

Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) is a polio-like syndrome predominantly affecting children that has been associated with recent outbreaks of Enterovirus-D68 (EV-D68) in the USA and Europe, and with an overall poor neurological prognosis. AFP in adults is rare, although cases in immunocompromised hosts have been reported, and overall few cases have been reported in Australia. Here we report a case of EV-D68 associated AFP in an immunocompromised Australian adult treated with compassionate use pocapavir and V-7404.
