The strain Rhodococcus erythropolis X5 is capable of hydrocarbons degradation and trehalose lipid production. It can actively utilize crude oil, diesel fuel and individual alkanes at low temperatures (4-8C). The strain can be used as an effective bioremediation agent for crude oil contaminated soils in low-temperature climates.
